President Biden still plans to promote a path to citizenship

A day after the DACA ruling, President Biden released a statement on the official White House website, arguing that his administration still plans to garner support in Congress to open a path to permanent legal residence and eventually American citizenship for Dreamers who meet certain eligibility requirements.

Adding to that, on Sunday, July 25, 2021, President Biden said in a short interview that he still firmly intends to offer lasting and even permanent benefits for Dreamers, who are now an essential part of the local workforce and consistently drive the national economy from all kinds of sectors.

Biden openly stated “There must be a pathway to citizenship”. However, President Biden did not elaborate on how he plans to pass this type of legislation in Congress, considering that gaining bipartisan support does not seem a viable path right now due to the debate surrounding the surge of illegal border crossings.
