Border Forces Might Release Immigrants Without Court Date
Border Patrol Stations Already Reached Full Capacity
Due to the substantial increase in illegal border crossings, border patrol stations and other facilities located across the US borders have already reached their maximum capacity.
Adding to that, border forces continue to encounter hundreds of undocumented immigrants at the borders on a daily basis, including unaccompanied minors, which increases the health risk caused by the global Coronavirus pandemic and worsens the border situation.
Currently, due to the health crisis, most immigrants apprehended at the borders are returned almost immediately, except for unaccompanied children. However, there are certain cases in which asylum seekers can present their immigration applications in the US despite the health risk.
Usually, border entities such as CBP (Customs and Border Protection) can release certain asylum seekers into the US after giving them an NTA (Notice to Appear), which specifies steps to follow to present their cases and the date they must attend immigration court.

Border Patrol might release immigrants into the US without NTA
According to a recent Fox News report, border forces are considering the possibility that Border Patrol agents from the Rio Grande Valley (southern Texas) release certain asylum seekers into the US without a court date, that is, without an NTA.
This plan might take place if the border situation worsens and the number of illegal crossings does not decrease over the next few weeks. This is because border patrol stations in this area already have an overcapacity of more than 700% amid the health emergency.
Usually, border agents issue an NTA for each individual or family within several hours. According to the anonymous source, who belongs to CBP, the situation at the borders is getting worse and the Border Patrol “has no choice but to release people nearly immediately after apprehension because there is no space to hold people even to do necessary NTA paperwork.”
Irregular immigration could have devastating consequences
The controversy surrounding irregular immigration is gigantic and the attention of the American public is currently focused on the situation at the borders and the surge of illegal crossings, which became national news in recent weeks. Due to this situation and pressure from opposition groups, the Biden administration will very likely have to take further steps to enforce immigration law both at the borders and within the US and reduce irregular immigration at all costs.
Hence, as one might conclude, illegal immigration never brings positive repercussions, also considering that the US immigration system offers a wide variety of alternatives for foreigners. With this, we refer to all kinds of communities, from highly skilled foreign workers in fields such as science and technology, to vulnerable populations in need of international protection such as asylum seekers and refugees.
The best alternative to start your immigration journey is undoubtedly to follow legal guidelines, avoid irregular immigration, and seek reliable help from experts on immigration matters.
