Closure of USCIS offices extended

USCIS extends closure until Jun 3

USCIS offices remain closed until June

Due to the health crisis caused by the Coronavirus, all face-to-face appointments of the US Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) are currently suspended.

Initially, this health prevention measure stipulated that USCIS would resume services in early May.

However, due to the severity of the massive spread of COVID-19 in the US, USCIS decided to extend the suspension of its face-to-face services until June 3, 2020, at least.

The temporarily paused services are:

  • In-person interviews.
  • Face-to-face hearings.
  • Citations for biometric data.
  • Interviews for Green Card.
  • Naturalization ceremonies.

USCIS Informs Applicants

Previously scheduled appointments will be canceled and applicants will receive notification of cancellation.

In addition to that, the USCIS system will automatically reschedule appointments for any other date later than June 3, 2020.

It is imperative to understand that this date could change again depending on the repercussions of the virus and the improvement of public health.

Why did USCIS decide to close its offices?

Decreasing the peak of contagion depends entirely on the social distance we currently have.

Due to the imminent danger that COVID-19 represents for humanity, all government entities had to take hasty decisions to mitigate the impact of the virus within their facilities.

In addition to that, Trump’s government supports 100% the closure of USCIS offices and wants to continue extending the suspension of immigration in the country.

This could have a very negative impact on the socioeconomic development of the most important sectors of local production.

What to do if you have a pending immigration case?

Do not worry. Use this time wisely and take the opportunity to prepare correctly.

This pause in face-to-face immigration processes can be a good thing for you for several reasons.

  • USCIS continues to receive most applications and requests virtually.
  • You can get a specialized guide to organize your immigration case correctly.
  • You have enough time to choose the most suitable option for your case.
  • Take the time to organize the necessary documentation and evidence so that your request receives a positive response.
  • USCIS has face-to-face appointments only for very special and emergency cases. Find out if your case falls within those scenarios.

The reality is that due to the COVID-19 crisis, the policies changes are constant and uncertainty can lead to confusion, thus, it is important to be up to date with the current immigration policies.

The best alternative is to seek immigration specialists to avoid a possible rejection of your request.

If a petition gets a rejection, it will most likely take a long time for you to reapply due to our current circumstances.

Therefore, seek credible advice to avoid concerns and mistakes.

We understand that the current situation is unexpected and COVID-19 spread uncontrollably in our world.

However, that does not stop families from having the dream of coming to the US to build a solid foundation for future generations.

We must not put aside our life expectations due to the outbreak of the pandemic but rather the opposite, we must prepare ourselves very well to act consistently and have successful results.
