Former CBP chief is now part of FAIR

Mark Morgan played an essential role on the immigration sector during the Donald Trump administration. Morgan was the acting director of ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) from May to July 2019, and then was the head of CBP (Customs and Border Protection) from July 2019 to January 2021.

These two federal entities have extremely important tasks on the immigration system, mainly the detention and deportation protocols for undocumented immigrants, both at the borders and within the US.

On February 10, 2021, three weeks after President Biden took office, Morgan joined FAIR (Federation for American Immigration Reform), arguing that he still has the purpose and intention “to seek out solutions to mitigate the tremendous burden and negative impact of uncontrolled immigration on our country’s national security and economic prosperity.”

FAIR is a non-partisan organization that seeks to reduce current levels of immigration in the US, declaring that American citizens should think about the future and the quality of life of the local population. FAIR states that it is indeed important to respect human rights, but that the country must make fair decisions, thinking about local citizens, and the best way to do so is by setting limits on immigration.

Morgan will serve as a senior member of FAIR and will also serve as a spokesperson for the organization. FAIR executive director states that “His expertise and ‘tell it like it really is’ approach is needed now more than ever as the Biden administration is whittling away interior and perimeter controls at breakneck speed.”
