The biggest and most important challenge facing the Biden administration so far is the surge of illegal border crossings, which has been present and has increased considerably since the Democratic president took office earlier this year.

Harris recently traveled to Central America to meet with local leaders and proposed interregional cooperation strategies to work with neighboring countries and address irregular migration from its root causes. Adding to that, the current vice president of the US traveled to the border territory last week to witness what is really happening.

It is worth mentioning that Harris is not the only one who has visited the border recently. In fact, former President Trump also traveled to the border territory this week.

Former President Trump and Texas Governor want to build the border wall

On Wednesday, June 30, former President Donald Trump, along with the Governor of Texas and more than 20 Republican members of the US House of Representatives, visited the border territory, where a portion of Trump’s border wall was built.

At this point it is important to explain that, as for the Biden administration, immigration was always a mainstay for the Trump administration, but from a diametrically opposite perspective. For former President Trump, curbing irregular migration through strict border policies was the most efficient way to control the number of undocumented immigrants entering the US during his term. Therefore, his most striking and important immigration proposal was the construction of a border wall that separates the US from Mexico.

During his visit to the borders, former President Trump commented on the importance of finalizing the border wall and blamed the Democratic party for the surge of illegal border crossings. Texas Governor Greg Abbott argued that the state needs to build this wall to curb mass irregular migration and plans to invest $250 million for this purpose, even if it does not have the Biden administration’s support.
