Harris proposes new strategy to curb irregular migration

On Monday, December 13, Vice President Harris announced that several major companies plan to invest in the Central American territory. This new strategy seeks to expand employment opportunities for local citizens and effectively address the root causes of irregular migration.

Let’s take a look at some highlights of the project:

• Some of the companies involved are PepsiCo, Microsoft, Mastercard, Parkdale Mills and the humanitarian organization called CARE.
• PepsiCo plans to invest $190 million in the Northern Triangle of Central America (Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador).
• CARE plans to invest $50 million to open a Center for Gender Equity in the Central American territory.
• Parkdale Mills plans to invest $150 million.
