Republican Delegation Traveled to the US Borders

There is a national debate drawing the attention of the American public, which is related to the current situation at the US borders. The number of apprehensions reported by border entities such as CBP (Customs and Border Protection) shows a substantial increase in illegal crossings.

Apart from that, a Republican delegation, 12 members of the US House of Representatives, also traveled to the borders on Monday, March 15, to witness the real situation and current conditions. The Republican delegation’s leader, Kevin McCarthy, declared that there is a humanitarian crisis and that President Biden has an obligation to travel to the borders to witness the repercussions of his policies.

In fact, McCarthy made rather compromising assertions, stating that the situation at the borders is the direct result of Biden halting the construction of Trump’s border wall and that there are “terrorists” trying to enter the US. The Republican member stated that President Biden must first accept that there is a crisis in order to effectively address the situation.

For its part, the Biden administration declares that it will not deport unaccompanied immigrant minors as the Trump administration did and that is one of the reasons why the current situation at the borders seems like a crisis, but, in its opinion, it is a only a “challenge.”
