Senator Calls on Biden to Return to Trump’s Border Policies
Public attention to the current border situation
The current border situation in the US has been national news for several weeks and is sparking a growing controversy among the American public. With this, we refer to the substantial increase in apprehensions of undocumented immigrants at the borders, which also includes unaccompanied minors.
The current controversy is mainly related to immigrant children because the HHS (Department of Health and Human Services) facilities are already reaching their maximum capacity and border agencies such as CBP (Customs and Border Protection) are not being able to transfer minors to these facilities in less than 72 hours.
It is worth mentioning that the previous administration, led by former President Donald Trump, was deporting unaccompanied immigrant minors amid the health crisis and keeping them in hotels instead of transferring them to HHS centers, as stipulated by local law. However, the Biden administration is returning most foreigners apprehended at the borders, with the exception of unaccompanied minors, who are often victims of extremely risky situations such as abuse, violence and human trafficking.
Thus, the fact that the Biden administration is trying to rebuild an almost non-existent or broken resettlement system to protect the integrity of minors undoubtedly unleashes a challenging situation at the borders, but to some extent it is preferable than expelling innocent children to dangerous environments.

Senator states that Trump’s border policies are the solution
Several members of Congress have raised their voices in recent weeks regarding the current border situation and the surge of illegal crossings. In fact, Louisiana Republican Senator John Neely Kennedy stated on Sunday, March 28, that President Biden should adopt former President Trump’s border policies to control the situation at the borders.
Senator Kennedy openly stated, “All we have to do is go back to what we were doing before. President Biden undid everything that the Republican Congress and the Trump administration did.”
However, President Biden declares that he does not agree with Trump’s restrictive policies that force border agencies to deport minors amid a health crisis unprecedented in recent human history.

Do you need help with an immigration case?
It is important to realize that irregular immigration does not bring benefits, neither for individuals involved in this maneuver, nor for the country affected by mass migration. To give a specific example, the Biden administration has been unable to fully pursue its immigration proposals due to the surge of illegal border crossings, affecting the most vulnerable immigrant populations and also increasing health risk amid the global Coronavirus pandemic
However, if you follow legal guidelines and choose the process that best suits your current needs, always respecting local law, then you will be able to present a solid case and most likely receive a positive response to your immigration application. Therefore, it is imperative to follow expert advice during your immigration process.
