The MPP establishes that asylum seekers must wait in Mexico until the resolution of their cases, and only upon approval of their application may they enter the US.

Official figures show that since December 8, 2021, when this measure was restored, more than 200 people have been returned to Mexico’s southern border under the MPP policy.

The Supreme Court’s evaluation
