The Trump Government Expedites Border Wall Construction
Immigration as a cornerstone of President Trump’s political campaign
The immigration sector has played an important role in President Trump’s political campaign. Since he took office in 2017, more than 400 changes have been implemented in the US immigration system.
The Trump administration declares that mass immigration can become an unnecessary burden on the local economy and that reducing it is one of the goals of his administration. The president argues that controlled, measured and monitored legal immigration could be positive for the country, but that illegal immigration must be eradicated at all costs.
Therefore, when it comes to the immigration sector, the Trump administration’s efforts have been primarily related to illegal immigration.
In fact, one of the pillars of his presidential campaign in 2016 was the construction of a border wall that separates Mexico from the US.
Trump’s border wall has several purposes, let’s see some of them:
- Reduce illegal immigration from Central America, preventing immigrants from crossing borders other than through authorized ports of entry.
- Lighten workload for border forces.
- Protect the local economy and restructure the US immigration system.
- Prevent undocumented immigrants from promoting clandestine work and using public benefits excessively.
President Trump had promised to finalize the border wall before the elections, which will take place in November 2020.

The Trump administration speeds up wall construction ahead of elections
The Trump administration is building the border wall at a rapid pace ahead of the November presidential election, according to a recent report by The Washington Post.
According to Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the construction team is adding nearly two miles of border wall per day, a fairly high number compared to the beginning of the year.
Currently, there are 341 miles of border wall, and the Trump administration plans to build another 450 miles before 2021.
This project has received countless criticism, not only for being a radical ideal, according to dozens of activists, but because it can harm wildlife in the border ecosystem, drawing the attention of hundreds of environmentalists.
With the election approaching, President Trump is once again using the immigration sector as a pillar of his campaign to win reelection, and the construction of the border wall is also a key piece for his administration.
