The US Halts Visas for Mexico
The US embassy located in Mexico stated that as of Wednesday March 18, 2020 visa applications and interviews will stop until further notice.
The world situation
The socio-economic impact due to the coronavirus is currently very large. The spread of the virus is affecting all established areas of societies.
Borders are closed in most countries of the world, therefore, markets are declining.
Many people had plans to migrate to another country without knowing that this was going to happen.
The governments around the world are trying to use emergency measures to prevent the continued spread of the virus.
Federal employees are commonly one of the most affected by the current problem, since they must continue working and helping government entities.
The US has been one of the countries most affected by the virus so far.
Therefore, the government has decided to take extreme measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
The embassy’s decision
The US embassy located in Mexico has complained with the local government for continuing with consular processes as regularly.
In light of the severity of the Coronavirus, all visa petitions and interviews in Mexico will be paused for now.
On Monday, March 16, the national statement was communicated. This preventive measure will be applied as of Wednesday, March 18.
The arguments of the decision
The embassy wants to protect its employees from the spread of the virus at all costs.
The US Embassy declared last Monday: “This includes both visa interviews at the embassy and consulates as well as processing at the Applicant Assistance Centers (CAS).”
The only cases that will be handled in person are services to US Citizens or special visa requests.
The repercussions
Many visas that are requested in the embassies of the US are related to agriculture.
Thousands of Mexican workers come annually to the country to do agricultural work that generates local sustainability.
There are people who need to travel temporarily for work or business.
Normally, the waiting time is long when applying for a residence permit from Mexico, therefore, many immigrants have been waiting a long time for a response and now the waiting time will be extended even more by the closure of the embassies and consulates.
Waiting times are now longer than usual.
The solution
The best way to immigrate to the US right now is using the right guide so that you can make requests the right way.
There are some requests that are still going to be accepted at the US embassies located in Mexico.
Only by following a correct protocol can residence permits be obtained from Mexico.
It is important to keep remain calm, as this is only temporary. However, if it is an issue of urgency, solutions can always be found to enter the US.
In many countries, embassies are operating normally virtually and all requests can be made.
