The US to Send Monetary Aid to Central America to Curb Irregular Migration
Vice President Harris to help Central America to reduce irregular migration
Due to the exponential increase in mass irregular migration from Central America, the Biden administration is facing a gigantic challenge and the current border situation is becoming an obstacle and an impediment for it to move forward with its migration plans.
Therefore, to address the social controversy as soon as possible and curb irregular migration, President Biden ordered Vice President Kamala Harris to control the situation and implement the necessary measures to reduce the number of apprehensions at the borders.
Following President Biden’s order, Vice President Harris has already had several meetings with different Central American leaders and has created multiple action plans to address the root causes of mass migration, which, in her opinion, are intrinsically related to conditions in certain Central American countries such as violence, war, famine and lack of resources.
As part of the strategy to reduce illegal migration, Harris announced on Monday, April 26, that the US will send $255 million to El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras as part of a humanitarian package and $55 million to reduce famine in the region, that is, a total of $310 million.
Adding to that, Vice President Harris plans to travel to Central American territory in June 2021 to meet with the leaders of different countries and create international cooperation strategies to curb massive irregular migration to North America.

Misconceptions among undocumented immigrants
It is quite clear that there is an abysmal difference between the views of former President Trump and President Biden when it comes to the immigration sector. The Trump administration stated that immigration is a burden on the federal government and tried to restrict it by all possible means, while the Biden administration states that immigration is an advantage to the US economy.
Since the results of the November 2020 elections came to light, several critics and experts warned that such an abrupt change of administrations and the relaxation of certain border restrictions would increase mass irregular migration disproportionately, taking into account that Central American countries are going through truly precarious situations related to the global Coronavirus pandemic, natural disasters and lack of resources.
As expected, there is a surge of illegal border crossings and the number of apprehensions increased substantially after President Biden took office, which includes family units, single adults and unaccompanied immigrant minors.
The current problem lies in the fact that many migrants, due to lack of information and reliable sources, hope that the new administration will allow them to enter the US without following regular protocols or legal processes established by the local immigration system, which is clearly not the case, even more so now that we are still going through an unprecedented global health crisis.
