The USCIS Celebrates Independence Day
The Fourth of July in the midst of a pandemic
The Independence Day is celebrated every year in the US on July 4. This day commemorates the declaration of independence that the country signed by completely separating from the British Empire in 1776.
During this memorable day, local people celebrates with their families. There are several parades around the country, and overall it is a special day for American citizens.
This is the first time in decades that the Fourth of July will not be celebrated as it normally is due to the public health threat caused by the global Coronavirus pandemic.
Nostalgia has invaded American society due to the current situation and families will celebrate this unique occasion at home.
Despite difficult circumstances, there is hope for immigrants
Despite the current situation we are going through as humanity, the immigrant community has a door of hope in the country thanks to the help of the US Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS).

The USCIS will celebrate independence day
It is well known that since the arrival of the Coronavirus in North American territory, the Trump government has implemented strict emergency measures in the immigration sector of the US.
Thus, the immigrant population has felt hopelessness and worried during recent months.
However, the USCIS decided to celebrate the Declaration of Independence by helping the immigrant community, hosting naturalization ceremonies around the country from July 1 to 7, 2020.
The official twitter statement declares: “For USCIS, there is no better way to celebrate Independence Day than by welcoming new U.S. citizens! We have health precautions in place, we’re practicing social distancing & we’re ready to welcome new US Citizens this week at naturalization ceremonies across the country.”
The Naturalization Ceremonies are the last step immigrants must take to become legal citizens of the US. After obtaining their citizenship, immigrants have exactly the same rights as any other American citizen.

The USCIS talks about its plans
Due to the massive outbreak of Coronavirus in the US, the USCIS decided to suspend naturalization ceremonies for a considerable period of time and resumed them in June 2020.
During June, the USCIS naturalized more than 64,500 immigrants who are now legal citizens.
The USCIS expects to conduct the naturalization ceremonies that were delayed due to the health crisis during July 2020.
In addition to that, the Deputy Director for Policy stated: “I am proud of the USCIS employees who have worked diligently to ensure that our agency can conduct safe but meaningful naturalization ceremonies during these difficult times”.
Thus, the USCIS plans to continue the naturalization processes despite the current circumstances of the country, which represents a door of hope for the immigrant communities that yearn to become legal citizens of the US.
