TPS Holders may Have Access to Green Card
USCIS opens pathway to Green Card for TPS beneficiaries
The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) recently announced that it will reinstate a pathway for TPS beneficiaries to apply for a Green Card.
Before addressing the issue at hand, it is important to explain that TPS is a deportation relief program that offers temporary amnesty to people coming from countries experiencing risky situations such as ongoing armed conflict, natural disasters or epidemics, which are designated by the Secretary of DHS (Department of Homeland Security).
Avoid precarious situations and follow the legal guidelines when starting your immigration journey in the US, surely there is at least one option that could suit your current needs. Contact Motion Law Immigration and ask for your FREE Consultation with our experienced attorneys.
The details of the decision
For many years, USCIS allowed eligible TPS holders to apply for the Green Card, which grants lawful permanent residency, but the Trump administration shut down this option.
Now that USCIS is reopening this path to Green Cards, TPS holders who are married to a American citizen or have an American child over 21 (and other eligibility criteria) could apply for lawful permanent residence.
Important Note
It is worth mentioning that it is still uncertain when USCIS will officially implement this policy again.
