The court’s decision to uphold the MPP policy

Last Monday, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals ordered the reimplementation of the MPP. This measure, proposed during former President Trump’s term, states that migrants who wish to apply for political asylum must remain in Mexico during the process and can only enter the US after legitimately obtaining political asylum status.

During President Biden’s term in office, his administration has tried to rescind this policy on 2 occasions, however, the Court of Appeals has ruled that it must continue to be reinstated.
